The Doraha College
of Education brought laurels to Ludhiana district
by winning the Ms Saroj Bansal Memorial Trophy for
the second consecutive year in a state-level competition
organized by the Satyam College of Education, Moga.
The theme of the competitions was gender equality
and it was held jointly with the Punjab Human Rights
Commission. Justice R. L. Anand, Chairperson, PSHRC,
and Mr N. K. Arora, Member PSHRC, were the chief
guests.
The competitions
were organized to create awareness about issues
related to gender equality, female foeticide, domestic
violence and sexual harassment of women.
Nearly 170 students
from 23 education colleges of Punjab participated
in these competitions. The participating colleges
included the Dev Samaj College of Education Chandigarh,
DAV Education College Abohar, the GHG College of
Education, Sidhwan, SDS College Lopon, Malwa Central
College of Education, Ludhiana, BCM College of Education
and GMT College Education Ludhiana, DM college and
Baba Mangal Singh College of Education, Moga.
In these competitions,
the Doraha college bagged six prizes. In the paper
presentation through power point competition, Prabhleen
Kaur bagged the first prize for her presentation
“Female Foeticide- An Insight” while Ashu Joshi
got the second prize for her presentation" Women's
constitutional Rights' which she presented in Punjabi.
In the power point
presentation for teachers, Ms Jaspreet Kaur won
the first prize for her presentation “Gender equality-
still knocking at the classroom door”.
In the poster-making
competition, Ruchi and Sapna stood second, Rashmi
Sharma won the third prize in collage-making and
Prabhleen Kaur bagged the consolation prize in creative
writing. |
